SAN ANTONIO – Copperas Cove ISD’s tradition of award-winning communications efforts continued this week in San Antonio.
Tuesday, the Texas School Public Relations Association announced CCISD won five Star Awards for work in the 2023-24 school year, earning recognition on all five entries the district’s communications department entered.
“When you consider nobody on the communications team was in the department when teachers returned for the 2023-24 school year, this achievement is a testament to our team’s determination and drive to be that bridge between the community and district,” said Director of Communications Kurtis Quillin. “Our entire team continues to learn how to improve every day and we’re confident that our efforts will not only improve, but that these won’t be the last Star Awards headed home to Copperas Cove.”
The communications team won a Bronze Award in Video – General Event for a video posted in September 2023 of SFC Paul Riley returning from deployment in Saudi Arabia to surprise his daughter at Mae Stevens Early Learning Academy.
It also won a Silver Award in template-driven website design, as well as in Photo Other Subjects, for a photo from Copperas Cove High School’s 2024 graduation ceremony.
The team also won two Gold Awards, one in Video – News/Information for a video posted to show district leadership surprising teachers who earned Teacher Incentive Allotment designations.
The second Gold Award was for the district’s video coverage of the 2024 Summer Hiking Camp in Video Promotional.
CCISD’s communications team’s mission is to serve as the bridge between the district and the community. It handles media requests, the district’s social media, State of the District, the district website and other community engagement initiatives, including the new Golden Dawgs program in Copperas Cove.
“Our communications department works tirelessly to not only keep our community informed about programs in Copperas Cove ISD, but to spotlight and celebrate the millions of miracles that happen each day in CCISD by the overt work of our team,” said CCISD Superintendent Dr. Brent Hawkins.
