Copperas Cove ISD -

Dr. Hawkins began as Superintendent of Schools in Copperas Cove ISD on Jan. 15, 2025. In this capacity, Dr. Burns shall act as the educational leader, chief executive officer and chief administrator of the District and shall have charge of the administration of the schools of the District under the direction, supervision and authority of the School Board.

Dr. Hawkins has more than 16 years of experience as a superintendent in Texas public schools, having served in that role in Livingston ISD from 2014-2025, the longest-tenured superintendent in Livingston’s 100-year history, Woden ISD and Diboll ISD. He has worked in Texas public schools for more than 32 years total. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology as well as a Master's in Educational Administration, and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University.

Dr. Hawkins has also worked as a coach, principal, curriculum director and teacher in Leggett, Shepherd, Wells, Diboll and Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD's

Dr. Hawkins and his wife, Jenny, have three adult daughters and two grandchildren.
