House Creek Elementary School

COPPERAS COVE – An elementary school in Copperas Cove has won yet another national award.

House Creek Elementary School was named to Educational Results Partnership’s 2024 Honor Roll list of top performing schools in Texas, earning a STAR-level designation for outperforming peer campuses in closing achievement gaps, particularly among higher-poverty and historically disadvantaged student populations.

“At House Creek Elementary, we are focused on closing the achievement gap and helping all our students reach academic success,” said Carolyn Jackson, Principal at House Creek Elementary School. “We are thrilled to be recognized as a 2024 Educational Results Partnership 2024 Honor Roll school. This recognition is a testament to the sustained focus on academic results and commitment to lifelong student learning that our school and parent community have shown over the years. I am proud of the work and effort all of our students and staff put forth each day.”

This award reviews state testing data at the “Masters Grade Level” scores for each campus and district.

In 2024, only 12% of campuses in Texas qualified for the Educational Results Partnership Honor Roll, placing House Creek among the top school campuses in the State of Texas.

“House Creek has set the standard for excellence in Copperas Cove ISD,” Superintendent Dr. Brent Hawkins said. “I am incredibly proud of every single student and educator at House Creek for the work they have put in to ensuring a great educational experience. We are confident that there will be more recognitions like this down the line for more of our campuses.”

There are two designations, STAR for campuses and districts with 33% or greater of its student population designated as economically disadvantaged and Scholar for campuses and districts with fewer than 33% of its students designated as economically disadvantaged.

This honor marks consecutive years with nationwide honors for House Creek, with the campus earning Copperas Cove ISD’s first National Blue Ribbon School designation in 2023.

In both years, House Creek was also named to the U.S. News & World Report’s list of the Best Elementary Schools in Texas, alongside four other elementary campuses in CCISD.

CCISD, as a school district, consistently outperforms both TEA’s Region 12 and state averages in state-mandated testing, according to the Texas Academic Progress Report. As of the 2023-24 TEA accountability ratings, seven of the 11 campuses in CCISD rated as a “B” or better.
